"Bay View" is artist Kim Knoll's abstract recollection of an overcast day on the Puget Sound. "The water was calm and seemed to match the grey sky above it," Knoll says. "Mist hovered over the coast, making the mountains in the distance barely visible. Strips of land showed their reflections in the water with ripples interrupting the shadows." Giclée print on premium paper is recreated from the artist's original, then hand-framed in Chicago. Pine core frame has a contemporary double-foil finish in mottled dark silver with a pewter inset.
Kim Knoll, a Chicago artist, seeks calm and stillness through painting memories and moments from time spent in nature. "My style is an abstract interpretation of memorable sights from places I've been or the way something makes me feel," she says. Working with watercolors, ink, acrylic and graphite, she paints from memory, thinking of specific sights or feelings to inform and guide each concept.
