"It is no surprise that, given my graphic design background, underlying structures reminiscent of organizational grids have emerged in my work," says artist Sarah Von Dreele. Painted in shades of blue, black and ochre, "Cery II" explores variations in transparency through each brush stroke. This giclée print on premium paper is reproduced based on Von Dreele's gouache technique and presented in a pine frame with a black finish.
Sarah Von Dreele is an artist who divides her time between New York City and Long Beach Island, New Jersey. Trained in typography and graphic design at the Rhode Island School of Design, she paints exclusively with gouache to explore the range of opaqueness and transparency of colors. "My work is ethereal and calm, and the repetitive nature of the paintings is inherently meditative," she says.
